Some projects are a family affair. When the son of a couple in Poquoson reached out to Doug Hogue, owner of Prestige Cabinets, it was a joint effort to bring his mother’s dream kitchen and bath spaces to life. The project was initiated for his parents, but he and his wife played a crucial role in the decision-making process, making it a true family affair.
The project was a high-end kitchen and primary suite bathroom renovation that involved removing original spaces from the house when it was built over thirty years ago and updating the rooms with new, high-end finishes.
“Their goal was improving functionality in general, but also with a sense of aging in place,” Hogue says. “So, it was important that in addition to creating a high-end look in the kitchen and primary bath, they remained functional and easily operable for everyday use.”
Over four months, Prestige Cabinets took the rooms from dated to state-of-the-art. Part of the value of working with Prestige is their long-standing experience in the kitchen and
bath industry. Potential clients who aren’t exactly sure what they want can rely on Hogue and his team to guide them through the process, sharing his experience of what works and what doesn’t.
“I’m upfront in offering suggestions based on my many years in the industry. If the client doesn’t take my suggestions, that’s fine, too, but I’ll always offer them,” Hogue says. “It’s gratifying how often I hear clients say, ‘Wow, I never even thought about that,’ which is exactly what I want to hear.”
Ultimately, the project fulfilled the client’s dream and brought satisfaction to her husband, son, and daughter-in-law, who were actively involved in the decision-making process.
“My satisfaction comes from knowing the entire family was very happy with the completed project, and they were excited to use the spaces for upcoming family gatherings,” Hogue says. “They told me they were overjoyed with the results and ready to enjoy the new spaces for many years to come.”
