IsaBell K. Horsley Real Estate, Ltd.
A postcard from the 1940s of the White Stone Bathing Beach shows well-dressed people strolling the pier, the beach’s swimming area and two good-size sailboats cruising toward the Bay. Just out of sight are the dance pavilion and rental cottages. And while the beach resort ceased to be in the early ’70s, the location lives on as the site of a stunning house now available for sale.
Located near where the White Stone Beach Hotel once stood, this Beach Road estate is notable for its almost 1,300’ private beach with wide bay views. Designed in 2000, the pale peach exterior extends an inviting coastal welcome and features an open floor plan. An ideal house for gathering friends and family, it boasts a first-floor, waterfront primary ensuite bedroom, six bedrooms upstairs, all with Jack and Jill bathroom access; and a detached three-bay garage with a full apartment upstairs, so there’s room for everyone.
“It’s situated on over eight acres, so it’s very private,” says IsaBell K. Horsley Real Estate agent Katie Horsley Dew. “With a saltwater pool and spa, plus a pier with 7-9’ mean water levels, it’s really its own little resort.” In addition, the pier has both a boat ramp and boat lift.
For those who like to entertain, the house’s open flow encourages movement throughout, while a series of French doors along the river provide stellar waterfront views from the moment guests walk in the front door. “There’s no other way to say it, the views are stunning, with sunsets up the Rappahannock River and sunrises on the Chesapeake Bay side,” Dew says, noting that beautiful boats provide a constant source of maritime entertainment.
“Someone who wants wide water views can invite friends and family to come play and stay year-round.”
The house is barely three minutes from restaurants and shops in White Stone and only a bit further to those in Irvington and Kilmarnock, but feels light years from anything but water, sun and sand. “This house is cool and unusual in all sorts of fabulous ways,” Dew says. “And best of all, right away, your eye is taken to the water.”
