Owner Terri Riggs curates a wine list of small producers and affordable price points, with wine also available for retail sale. From her initial drawing of the wine bar on a napkin to renovating the space to designing the menu and ordering the food, Riggs, a restaurant veteran of 20 years, knew exactly what she wanted her restaurant to be. Her patio sits like a jewel in downtown Irvington, so lush with herbs and flowers that she won a Lancaster County garden award for it. “I had a vision, and it all came together,” she says.
A hit with both locals and visitors, Riggs keeps things interesting year-round with special events. During the winter, she hosts Guest Chef nights with neighbors cooking and profits going to Irvington stalwarts like the fire department, yacht club and Steamboat Museum. Sundays in January and February, she does fondue nights—two types, cheese and red wine, and two sizes, small or large—accompanied by live music.
Every August, she hosts two evenings of Diner en Blanc with everyone dressed in white for a French picnic of five courses with five wine pairings. New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day also showcase five-course menus. “These evenings are meant to be fun,” Riggs says.
The community table at Vine welcomes everyone. “We can accommodate vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans and those who are gluten intolerant or have allergies,” Riggs says. “Our poke bowl showcases that.”
