Bethpage Miniature Golf & Ice Creamery is the perfect place to spend the day playing 18 holes of mini-golf and indulge in a selection of 20 delicious flavors of hand-dipped Hersey’s ice cream in the wildly fun world of COWTOPIA.
Families and retirees have flocked to Bethpage Camp-Resort and Grey’s Point Campground for decades as a second home destination. Featuring a plethora of activities in the beautiful Middle Peninsula, they are close-knit neighborhoods for seasonal guests. Fifteen-year residents Tim and Connie Daughtrey exclaim, “We love the atmosphere and people who become extended family.”
Urbanna native Walt Hurley, Sr. opened Bethpage in 1978 on the site of his grandfather’s dairy farm. His son Walt Hurley, Jr. was a visionary in outdoor recreation and campgrounds and expanded the park. His crowning achievement was when Bethpage was named Park of the Year three times by National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. Grey’s Point Campground was purchased by the Hurleys in 1994.
After Hurley’s untimely death in 2017, his children sold the properties to Equity Life-Style Properties (ELS), the leading operator of RV Resorts and Campgrounds in North America. With an inclusive culture and reputation for excellence, ELS is committed to embracing the Hurley family legacy of quality, innovation and community values. As Community Manager Scott Schlick puts it, “Our amazing team provides guests with exceptional amenities and outstanding recreational opportunities that are second to none.”
ELS eagerly launched new, exciting chapters for both parks. Grey’s Point has a new dog park and is poised to begin work on a new pool and updated marina. Bethpage features a new dog park, lake trampoline, playground, volley ball, laundry, and bathhouse updates. The 20 new mini-cottages are described by Lisa Goodall, ELS Vacation Sales team member, as “a street of tiny houses with an old-timey feel.” Future projects include a new aquatic center, basketball court, and pickle ball and new community-wide activities.
Proud of its business connections in Urbanna, ELS promotes its small-town charm. They sponsor the Urbanna Trolley and Oyster Festival scholarships and have outsourced management of the Bethpage Poolside Café to Urbanna Seafood. The public can also book corporate events, camp and school group rentals, weddings and other special occasions in spectacular waterfront settings complete with catering, lodging and first-class amenities.
