The Local Scoop Williamsburg Cover
Late this past summer, the night before the The Local Scoop’s Williamsburg Edition cover photo shoot with Bruce Nelson Photography, 5-year-old cover model Will Heinatz insisted on trying on his complete outfit one more time.
He worked hard on his own to button the Hartstrings white collared shirt, then pulling on the Mayoral Collection vest and helping roll up the cuffs of his bright red Jack Thomas pants. With a toothy grin, after some help from Mommy and Daddy, he ran his fingers over the Christmas tree and striped bow tie clasped sweetly around his neck.
“Take a picture,” he said. Of note, this kid NEVER wants to take a picture. “I feel fancy.”
And he looked it, too.
Since The Local Scoop’s Williamsburg Edition hit stands this month, featuring Will on the cover, decked out in clothes from the Carousel Children’s Boutique on Merchant’s Square in Colonial Williamsburg, readers have been asking: where did that adorable outfit come from.
Every piece came courtesy of the Carousel and here’s the scoop on the two items that have gotten the most attention: that sweet bow tie and the vest, fit for a royal.
Mayoral Vest Boys
Vest: Original Mayoral Collection, Made in Morocco
Will’s vest is fit for a prince. Literally.
The formal vest Will wore, by the Mayoral Collection, is the same brand Prince George (of Will and Kate fame) has been photographed in many times.
This vest is made of a formal fabric with a patterned polyester for the back. The front opening features buttons and a besom pocket.
But perhaps the most charming part of that piece of the cover kid look is the mission Mayoral promotes: “our objective is to create high quality garments at the best possible price and to deliver the garments on time. We produce more than 25 million garments a year or how we like to think about it, 25 million smiles.”
They got a few of those smiles just from The Local Scoop alone.
Andy & Evan Bow Tie
Bow Tie: Andy & Evan, Christmas Tree and Stripe Bow Tie
That bow tie – by Andy & Evan – plus the smile of a happy boy walking his pup were the perfect accessories for the look.
Andy & Evan bow-ties are for the consummate little gentleman, and made by hearty enough fabric for Moms not to fear being unable to wash out a dribble or two.
The best part, especially for a 5-year-old always on the go-go-go: no tying necessary. Simply clasp and wear.
Fans of Andy & Evan? You’re not alone. Earlier this year Andy & Evan won the Earnshaw's Magazine Earnie Award for Best Boys Brand of the year for the third year in a row. Then, Andy & Evan Industries, Inc. was named by Inc. Magazine as #142 on the prestigious list of the 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the U.S.
Ivanka Trump has featured her children in Andy & Evan, even Tweeting that she wished the styles came in adult sizes.
As a philosophy, Andy & Evan reports that despite growing to a top apparel company in the country, they remain respectful of every customer, cherishing each purchase and believing in every garment they produce.
SHOP THE LOOK
Shop the entire kid cover shoot look at the Carousel Boutique in Merchant’s Square.
The Carousel Boutique offers an excellent and eclectic selection of traditional brands and contemporary styles in apparel, shoes and accessories (featuring infants through sizes 16 in boys and girls).
Perhaps what we love most is the story behind it all. It all started with a mother and daughter – Marty and Margaret – who teamed up to create a boutique for children, where parents could shop looks for portraits and playgrounds. It launched in 1991 and has been a mainstay of Colonial Williamsburg every since.
Shopper’s tip? Be sure to stop by starting Christmas Eve for their annual sale. Looks are up to 50% off storewide.
