The seventh installment of Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars (DWTWS) was a night to remember in 2016. The dynamic group of local stars included a superintendent, a tough shipyard contractor, three MD’s specializing in surgery and anesthesia, a respected community volunteer, an awe-inspiring designer/furniture guru, and landscape business owner.
Their record breaking dance show raised money for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Literacy for Life.
Twelve brave business people accepted the challenge to train with a professional dancer and compete in front of a live audience and panel of judges. They broke all of DWTWS past records for a sold out show and raised over $120,000. With the funds raised, DWTWS was able to donate $50,000 to both Big Brothers Big Sisters and Literacy for Life.
Event Chair, Ken Johnston and committee members met with the head of both charities to present their checks.
“Our stars not only had incredible dances but they are incredible people. We had the pleasure to see them evolve from doctors, landscapers, superintendents, etc., into the most incredible dancers! They are not only talented in their daily jobs, but they are so generous and kind to donate their time and raise funds for these two amazing charities. It was a pleasure working with everyone and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!” said Willems, Committee Member.
