AWL was established in 1965 to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs. As a recognized 501(c)3 animal charity, donations to AWL are always tax deductible as followed by law.All revenues are generated by donations, memberships, fundraisers: (The Dog Gone Dog Show, Spring Fling Fashion Show, Cat Photo contest, etc) bequests, grants and our terrific AWL Thrift Shop in Kilmarnock.
We are not affiliated with, however, we do provide free spay/ neuter for any animal adopted from one of the three Northern Neck Shelters... Lancaster, Northumberland and Westmoreland. (Richmond County does not have its own shelter) Free spay/neuter and initial shots are also granted to any Northern Neck permanent resident on county assistance. (must show proof)
The AWL further supports the efforts of Wendy's Feline Friends and our many kind foster homes and will provide any adopter from there a free spay/neuter.
