It was the splash heard ‘round the world. When Thomas Nelson, Jr. and his group of fellow patriots marched to the Yorktown waterfront and threw two chests of tea overboard, they helped spark a revolution! Join us as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of this historic event.
The weekend is filled with festive and patriotic events to celebrate this important time in our nation’s history. We’ll have concerts, reenactments, ship tours, a Colonial Tea Ball, reenactments, a maritime market, and much more! Join us as we spill the tea…literally!
The free, accessible Yorktown Trolley will be in operation beginning at 11 a.m. during this event.

250th Anniversary Yorktown Tea Party Exhibition in the Freight Shed
A photo station to pose as a patriot dumping tea will be available in the Freight Shed.
A tea smuggling exhibit will be on display at the Watermen's Museum.
Visit living history stations and tour several historic buildings along Historic Main Street.
