Hundreds of Bike MS: Colonial Crossroads cyclists and volunteers gathered at the start line in Williamsburg to resume their ride on the morning of June 5.
More than 800 cyclists journeyed from 40, 75, to 100 miles with a pit stop in Williamsburg in early June, raising over half a million dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society during the inaugural Bike MS: Colonial Crossroads ride.
During the two-day event, sponsored by Larry Page Auto Group, participants began their ride in either Smithfield or Richmond, taking a respite on June 4 in Colonial Williamsburg.
The cyclists, as well as an additional hundred or so volunteers, MS Society staff, and other supporters, gathered for the night to celebrate their accomplishments before resuming their ride the next day. Riders were treated to a meal, massages, and musical entertainment as well as an evening program.
The event raised $800,000 for the National MS Society, helping to change the lives of those living with multiple sclerosis.
“We are so excited and thankful for all the cyclists, family and friends, and volunteers and staff who came out and made this event a success,” says Sharhonda Woods, vice president of development for the Virginia-West Virginia Chapter of the National MS Society. The society is already looking forward to the next Bike MS: Colonial Crossroads ride, slated for June 3-4, 2017.
