The Winners
Randy and Anne Hisle earned dinner for four at the Blue Talon Bistro and tickets to the October Gallery Crawl through Williamsburg.
What do you get when you combine technology, a scavenger hunt and a group of Williamsburg innovators who want to bring attention to the small businesses floating under the radar throughout the city?
#HipsterHunt2015
In what was billed as the first of many to come, #HipsterHunt2015, organized by Work Nimbly, a start-up co-working space in Williamsburg, was designed to get people out circulating through the city to see just how hip the town is.
How did it work? Participants picked up a hunting guide checklist at the dozens of participating businesses or downloaded it online.
From August 31 to September 13, participants (or teams) earned points for visiting or learning more about the different participating businesses in Williamsburg. Each challenge in the hunt varied, from liking a company like AleWerks Brewing Company on Facebook to earn one point or visiting the brewery’s patio and taking a picture to earn five points.
Other challenges included things like getting a photo with a rooster at the Blue Talon Bistro on Prince George Street, picking and sharing your favorite Imperial Olive recipe on Facebook, checking-in at the Williamsburg Farmers Marker and trying a sample tea from Discover Teas.
Participating organizations included, among others, Beyond Boobs, College of William and Mary, DoG Street Pub, Retro Daddio, The Imperial Olive, Off the Vine Market, BAEPLEX and Quirks of Art.
