Appropriately for a drinking establishment, the Kilmarnock Brewhaus opened on St. Patrick’s Day 2018 with seven beers on tap. Fast forward a year and a half and they now feature 15 different craft beers, along with steamed crabs, farm-raised oysters, seven kinds of pizza, beer-steamed hot dogs, barbecue and a selection of wines from Sauvignon
Blanc to Cabernet Sauvignon. The Brewhaus keeps music at the forefront with music every night they’re open with a large, professional stage and a state-of-the-art sound system. Wednesday nights are Open Mic night with local favorite Fred Stevenson. Thursdays are Blues Night with an array of accomplished blues players, known sometimes as the Northern Neck All-stars. Fridays and Saturdays they host all kinds of bands, from bluegrass and folk to full-on rock. According to owner Don Lee, their favorites include Mercy Creek, the Virginia Shellphish Coalition, the Windbags, Soul Grind and The Syndicators. Sundays are laid back events featuring acoustic music and crab picking.
According to Lee, “We are always hand picking new talent.”
