Launched in July 2018, That Damn Mary Brewing Company combines a brewery and taphouse with a restaurant. One of their goals is to be as green and sustainable as possible while using as many Virginia sources as they can find. Using a 7-barrel system for their beer mainstays and a half-barrel pilot system for experimental brews and collaborations, they keep things fresh and sell everything they brew on the premises.
Along with sustainability, That Damn Mary brings in bands that range from pop and rock to blues and Americana, featuring full bands, original artists, cover bands, duos and acoustic single
performers. You can usually catch open mic nights on Wednesdays and live music every Saturday night. When it comes to crowd favorites, owner MJ Anderson cites the Caroline August Band, Parson’s Field Project, WKNDR, Dave Crumpler and Mike Glass, Waypoint Duo and the Bryan Forrest Band as reliably delivering excellent sets. “We really love them because they are fun and amazing artists doing both covers and originals,” Anderson says. Most of the artists mentioned are on the schedule for fall performances.
