WCBF features more than twenty craft beers from at least ten different breweries, along with live music.
It’s the fifth year for the Williamsburg Craft Beer Festival (WCBF), hosted by the Rotary Club of Williamsburg and the Young Emerging Professionals of Williamsburg (YEP). Local restaurant and bar Oceans & Ale is the event band sponsor and this year, blues/rock band Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos will provide live music at the event.
“Not only is this event always organized exceptionally, my favorite part of the local craft beer scene in Williamsburg is the camaraderie. Not only do I bump into attendees I’ve met at past beer fests, but I really admire the relationship the breweries have with each other. The beer is pretty great, too,” said Kendra Law, 35, a James City County resident and three-time attendee.

Scott Kucinski, chair of the steering committee for the WCBF said that the festival stands out because it’s hosted by and completely benefits local non-profits—to the tune of $75,000 so far. Kucinski said that when the festival began, there was only one craft brewery in Williamsburg: Alewerks. Fast forward to this year and all five Williamsburg breweries plan to attend.
“We are one of the first beer festivals of the spring and everyone is eager to get out and enjoy themselves,” said Kucinski.
Sarah-Daye Hand, the assistant chair of the WCBF, said the group is committed to being local. “We really like to use our local businesses as we have grown. We also ask our local food trucks, bands and of course, our local charities as well.” Proceeds from the WCBF benefit Avalon, Here for the Girls (formerly Beyond Boobs!), Child Development Resources (CDR), Literacy for Life, The Rotary Club of Williamsburg and YEP.
The organizers said that most attendees are from Williamsburg and Hampton Roads but people from Richmond down to the Southside come as well.
“For those that attend that are not local to Williamsburg, it gives them a taste of what Williamsburg can offer and hopefully brings them back to the city for more!” Hand said.
Advanced ticket prices are $35 for general admission and $50 for VIP tickets and can be purchased here: williamsburgbeerfest.com
