The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck’s New Clubhouse
The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck’s new clubhouse on Main Street in Kilmarnock will open in September 2020, providing children an after-school experience in one safe, attractive spot. Architect Randall Kipp and his team designed the new 13,000-square foot building which will link directly to the existing Activity Center and feature expanded outdoor green spaces for sports and breakout rooms for art, STEM, technology and small group interactions.
Callao Brewing Company Opening Late Fall 2019
Roger Hale of Warsaw and James Adams of Wicomico Church will open Callao Brewing Company late this fall. They’ll start with six beers on tap, increasing to eight or more when in full production, plus non- alcoholic root beer. A food truck will be on-site and local restaurants will deliver. Reedvillle Fisherman’s Museum 25th Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum is celebrating its 25th Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek, a two-day house tour featuring homes decorated by the Chesapeake Bay Garden Club, model trains running in to-scale Northern Neck villages and boat tours. A shuttle from the Museum’s dock takes guests to Reedville’s harbor, where captains and mates provide history about sites along the shore. Homes are within 6 miles of the museum.
Compass Entertainment Complex
Compass Entertainment Complex, a state-of-the-art multi-screen movie theater and family entertainment center, is the brainchild of local business owners Julien Patterson and Terri Wesselman and scheduled to open its doors in spring 2020. Along with a first-run, six-screen movie theater, the complex will house a full-service restaurant, arcade, indoor high adventure course, climbing walls, mini-golf, batting cages, rooms for birthday parties and meeting spaces.
Town of Warsaw Revitalization
Coming soon to the Town of Warsaw: new businesses, infrastructure, parks and amenities, all part of a major revitalization campaign. With new brick paver sidewalks, landscaping, parking areas and decorative lights, Warsaw is becoming a hotspot for living, working and playing. Town Manager, Joseph Quesenberry says that with vision, investments and aggressive economic development efforts, Warsaw is becoming a destination point for the region.
Historic Christ Church & Museum Virtual Tour
New at Historic Christ Church and Museum is a virtual 360-degree tour of the Church, grounds, museum and event center. Shot by Brandon Hull of Hullfilm, who also created tours of Mount Vernon and Monticello, the tour is easily viewed by scrolling and clicking on icons or indexed links. Noblett Appliance Celebrates 80 Years
Eighty years strong, Noblett Appliance was founded in 1939 by George W. Noblett. When the Northern Neck got electricity, Noblett introduced gas ranges as a replacement for wood-burning ranges and began selling refrigerators and washers. The Hudnall family bought the business in 1978, continuing to sell, install and service residential appliances with a friendly, knowledgeable staff who are active members in the community.
Old Rappahannock Brewing Company
Next up for Andy Beale, President of Old Rappahannock Development Company, is Old Rappahannock Brewing Company in the building shared with Burke’s and Northern Neck Popcorn Bag. Brewing will begin in Warsaw in 2020 with a 2,000-square foot taproom, an outdoor patio and a 3,000-square foot production space. Town of Warsaw Receives The Virginia Municipal League’s 2019 Economic Development Award
The Virginia Municipal League’s 2019 economic development award went to the Town of Warsaw for its implementation of policies–reducing water/sewer hookup rates, beautification grants, a DHCD Downtown Revitalization Grant–to attract new businesses. Council then passed a resolution providing financial assistance to new or relocating small businesses, attracting an ice cream shop, gourmet popcorn shop, fine jeweler and custom granite provider.
