Brian Jenkins Joins RCCF
The River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF), located at 46 South Main Street in Kilmarnock, expanded their outreach to the communities it serves with a new hire—Brian Jenkins. Jenkins is the new Regional Donor Services Associate for River Counties Community Foundation. In his new position, Jenkins is responsible for serving as a liaison with board members, grantees, and nonprofits. He also manages the social media communication for RCCF and its Gloucester and Mathews affiliates. Originally from South Carolina, Jenkins attended Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina where he received his Bachelor of Science in political science and a minor in psychology. Before joining RCCF, Jenkins lived in Williamsburg and worked in sales, but now calls the Northern Neck home. As a young adult, Jenkins aspired to work in the nonprofit sector. Because he’s from a small town, too, Jenkins understands how nonprofits directly impact and improve the lives of its citizens. In planning for 2019, he will take a more significant role around grants to bolster his understanding of how local nonprofits contribute to the community and to determine how best RCCF can help. Jenkins will also strive to raise awareness of RCCF and its positive impact on local communities. For additional information about RCCF, go to rivercountiescf.org.

Town of Warsaw Offers “Bring Your Business to Town” Incentive
The Economic Incentive Program designed to spur small business growth and development within the Town of Warsaw has been launched by the Warsaw Town Council. In partnership with the Town of Warsaw, the Warsaw Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and the University of Mary Washington Small Business Development Center, the Economic Incentive Program is slated to be one of the most aggressive and innovative economic vitality projects in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The program is designed to provide a first-year free rent model for new small businesses looking to locate or expand within Warsaw, providing assistance to new businesses and assisting property owners throughout Warsaw to fill vacant commercial units. This model allows for new, locally grown small businesses to open, operate, and grow in both sales and future potential within Warsaw without also struggling to pay rent. Grant highlights include a first-year rent free program, monthly financial reviews, and financial planning through the Small Business Development Center, and free Chamber of Commerce membership, marketing and advertising assistance. Town Manager, Joseph Quesenberry, stated that this incentive program “…is designed to be a catalyst for small business expansion within our Town. While most localities attempt to lure the big box retailers, we understand that our small businesses are what truly create the fabric and identity that sets our community apart from the rest. We have high hopes for this program and its potential,” he said. Mayor Randall Phelps went further by saying that “…this grant shows that Warsaw is setting itself up to lead the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula in growth and potential. We believe in our Town, and we’re here to show it to any new business considering Warsaw for their next move.” For more information regarding this program, or to apply for a grant, please contact Joseph Quesenberry, Town Manager, at 804-333-3737, or by email atjquesenberry@town.warsaw.va.us.
