He arrived in Willliamsburg in 1982 and ever since has been shaping and contributing to the food scene in Williamsburg, Va.
Today, we are honored to announce that Chef Hans J. Schadler, CEC, AAC of Waypoint Seafood and Grill has graciously accepted our invitation to serve on The Local Scoop Magazine's Advisory Board for the Williamsburg edition.
Chef Schadler has had an illustrious 45-year culinary career and has already begun sharing his knowledge of food, wine and emerging trends in Williamsburg with the team.
He received his culinary training in Frankfurt, Germany and received his Doctorate of Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University in providence, Rhode Island. Chef Schadler served as Chairman of the Resort Food Executive Committee (RFEC) for over two decades and boasts a career highlighted by multiple accolades.
He's cooked for several presidents of the United States and was responsible for coordinating all meal functions during the Queen of England’s visitation to the Williamsburg Inn in 2007.
Chef Schadler has appeared on several television programs including the Today Show, Good Morning America, Great Chefs of the East series, the Farm to Tables series, and Family Holiday Table Show.
He PLANNED on retiring after this incredible career several years ago, but his infinite passion for food and led him to conquer a new endeavor - Waypoint Seafood and Grill in Williamsburg, Va., which he opened with his wife, Liv, and daughter, Tina Schadler-Phillips.
The dream was to celebrate local farmers, the Chesapeake Bay and all that makes Williamsburg and Tidewater unique in a menus “where tradition intersects creativity."
His guidance on the Williamsburg magazine's first edition - which will include a food and wine crawl through the city - has been invaluable. He knows food. He loves food. And he enjoys it in every setting. Look forward to learning more about the crawl and interesting spots all over the city, from fine dining at Waypoint and the Williamsburg Winery to casual dining at Retros and Charly's Airport Restaurant.
