Sometimes a light remodeling job evolves into a complete house make-over.
Such was the case when Randolph Construction Company was hired to update a premium property in Lancaster County. “It was a very nice home when we first walked into it,” owner Randy Randolph says. But as discussions with the client continued, the scope of the project evolved. “The more we got into it, the more it was clear that it was becoming a complete remodel, so we basically gutted the house and took it back to the studs.”
The job, which was expected to take six to eight months, wound up taking twice that. “But we were able to accommodate his changes in virtually every case. The owner loves the results and we’re very proud of it.”
“What he ended up getting was spectacular, essentially a new house,” Randolph says. A bedroom suite was added, which expanded the footprint of the home slightly. New siding and windows were requested, requiring fresh paint; new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems completed the extensive upgrade.
Randolph says it was one of the more detailed jobs he’s encountered since launching Randolph Construction in 1993. His enthusiasm for homebuilding is generational–Randolph’s father was involved in historic restoration. “I learned that a fine home reflects the homeowner’s unique style and interests.”
Randolph holds a Class A Builder’s License and a Certified Green Professional designation, incorporating green, sustainable building principles into homes without driving up construction costs.
Being in business for more than two decades means Randolph has strong ties to local sub-contractors, most of whom are regulars on all his jobs. “Our sub-contractors look out for each other and there’s a high degree of consistency from job to job–they are my backbone,” he explains.
Because his company is so detail-oriented and has done a variety of work over the years, they’re extremely flexible in terms of what work they can handle. “We’ve seen almost anything that you can think of from a construction perspective,” he says. “Surprise me!”
